Andreas Benjamin Reich

Andreas Benjamin Reich serves as a full-time Lecturer and researcher at the University of Hohenheim since 2019, where he is completing doctoral research focused on machine learning, natural language processing, and educational chatbots. Concurrently self-employed part-time since 2017, he advises companies on AI/IT integration and develops digital solutions across web, software, and media domains.

His academic journey includes a bachelor's thesis project in Indonesia with Fairventures Worldwide (funded by Google Impact Challenge 2018) developing AI tools for smallholder farmers, and a master's thesis in neural program synthesis that earned the Master Prize 2020. He holds additional recognition through the Media Award 2021 for his interaction design work.

Reich's research spans machine learning applications in education, chatbot development for academic support, program synthesis, reinforcement learning, and conspiracy theory analysis. He co-created the PET (Pedagogical Conversational Tutor) system—a 24/7 AI student assistant presented at major conferences including Learntec (2022-2025) and Tag der Digitalen Lehre 2025—demonstrating practical implementations of his work in higher education settings.

He actively contributes to interdisciplinary research teams developing the PET system, working with Prof. Matthias Wölfel and colleagues on AI-driven educational innovations that bridge computer science and pedagogy.
