Allison Pack

Allison Pack, PhD, is an adjunct instructor in the Department of Health Behavior at the University of North Carolina’s Gillings School of Global Public Health, where she also earned her PhD. Her research focuses on global health interventions related to HIV, sexual and reproductive health, and adolescent health, with a specialization in assessing acceptability of biomedical HIV prevention products. She has conducted fieldwork in Tanzania, India, and Kenya, examining stakeholder perspectives on clinical trial participation and healthcare provider preparedness for new treatments.

Dr. Pack teaches HBEH 772: Planning, Implementing and Evaluating Health Behavior Interventions. Her work emphasizes improving patient-clinician communication through adherence feedback systems and graphical data displays. Key themes include real-time adherence monitoring, ethical considerations in adolescent clinical trials, and leveraging financial incentives to enhance HIV treatment outcomes.

Her research has been published in Patient Education and Counseling, J Assoc Nurses AIDS Care, and AIDS Care, focusing on translational research bridging clinical and community settings. She collaborates with international organizations to develop culturally appropriate health communication tools and has contributed to global public health strategies for microbicide introduction and viral suppression programs.
