Allison Dukes is an Assistant Professor and Fieldwork Coordinator in the Counseling Program at Saint Joseph's University. She also serves as the Faculty Director of the Prevention Academy and holds roles in the Departments of Special Education and Educational Leadership, Counseling, and Social Work. Dr. Dukes joined SJU in 2023 after earning her PhD in Counselor Education & Supervision from William & Mary (2023), MEd from William & Mary (2020), and BS in Psychology from The Pennsylvania State University (2018).
Her research focuses on trauma-informed care, substance use disorders, and positive psychology, with particular attention to participatory action research empowering marginalized communities, especially in Philadelphia's opioid crisis-affected areas. She actively engages in community work through Fishtown counseling practices and coordinates fieldwork placements for students. Dukes also oversees counseling programming and research evaluation at the Prevention Academy, and serves as NBCC Campus Coordinator and ACEP Authorized Representative.
Her scholarly contributions include publications in Journal of Criminal Justice Education, Substance Use and Misuse, and Counselor Education and Supervision, with presentations on counseling outcomes, research methods, and LGBTQ+ populations. She holds editorial roles at Counselor Education and Supervision and Journal of Counseling & Development.
