Alison Singer is a Lecturer in the Department of Art History and Archaeology at the University of Maryland. Her research focuses on twentieth-century African Diaspora art and literature, with an emphasis on intersections of material culture, pop culture, and national identity. She holds a PhD in American Art and a Master's degree from the University of Texas at Austin, where she studied contemporary South African photography.
