James Davidson

James Davidson is an Associate Professor in the Department of Anthropology at the University of Florida's College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. He earned a Ph.D. in Anthropology from the University of Texas at Austin (2004), an M.A. in Anthropology from the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville (1999), and a B.A. in Archaeological Studies from the University of Texas at Austin (1990).

• Research focuses on historical archaeology (19th–20th century), African diaspora studies, mortuary practices, and folk beliefs.
• Key contributions include analyzing African-American burial customs, supernatural artifacts, and bioarchaeological comparisons between Confederate and Freedmen populations.
• Extensive fieldwork at Kingsley Plantation and other sites, leading annual archaeological field schools.
