Alison MacKinnon serves as Programme Director for the BA (Hons) Actor Musicianship at Rose Bruford College. With a decade of experience as a professional actress in repertory and touring theatre, she transitioned to voice teaching and dialect coaching internationally, working in film and leading drama schools. Her academic focus centers on integrating musicality with acting skills and exploring poetry’s role in actor training. She holds a BA (Hons) in Theatre Arts, an MA in Theatre Practice, and a Postgraduate Certificate in Higher Education Learning and Teaching in Performing Arts.
- External Roles: Served as External Examiner for Italia Conti Acting (University of East London, 2014–2019) and MA Voice Practice (Birmingham City University, 2013–2018). Currently acts as External Examiner for BA Actor Musicianship at Leeds Conservatoire (University of Hull, 2020–2025).
Her pedagogical research emphasizes effective assessment methodologies in performing arts education and interdisciplinary approaches to actor training. Teaching expertise spans Acting, Voice and Text, and Actor Musicianship disciplines.
