Aimee Shields is a Lecturer in Musical Theatre at Leeds Conservatoire, teaching the BA (Hons) Musical Theatre program. Her specialisms include Improvisation, Devising, Actor and Text, Directing, and Shakespearean performance. She concurrently runs Hellcat Theatre, which focuses on feminist, working-class-rooted productions, and co-founded The Butler Company for young, rural actors. Aimee holds a BA (Hons) Acting from Italia Conti Academy of Theatre Arts and is pursuing an MA in Theatre at the University of Surrey.
Her professional work spans acting, directing, and playwriting. Notable projects include immersive theatre production Resonate (2018), award-winning adaptations This is Yorkshire (2018 Edinburgh Fringe) and Dorian Gray (2019), and the radio/stage play Black Dark (2021). She is supported by Northern Stage’s Regional Theatre Young Directors Scheme (2021) and collaborates with institutions like the Georgian Theatre Royal and Up Ere productions.
Aimee also contributes as a reviewer for A Younger Theatre and teaches on the Foundation Acting course at The Actors Forge, Newcastle. Her creative practice emphasizes youth theatre development, feminist narratives, and Northern English cultural themes.
