Alison Guzman

Alison Guzman is an Assistant Professor of Modern Languages at Bentley University, specializing in the intersection of historical memory, Spanish and Latin American theater and film, and translation. She earned her Ph.D. and M.A. in Spanish Language and Cultures from the University of Salamanca, Spain, and a B.A. from Stanford University.

Her teaching interests include language, translation, culture, and interdisciplinary courses connecting Hispanic cities, historical memory, structural injustice, immigration, and social issues. Her research focuses on the Spanish Civil War, contemporary Spanish and Latin American theater/film, and trauma theory, often exploring autofiction, metatheatricality, and ecological memory.

Her recent publications analyze theatrical representations of trauma and memory in works by Borja Ortiz de Gondra, Lola Blasco, and Juan Mayorga, among others. She also contributes to book reviews and engages in consulting activities related to peer review, study abroad programs, and academic editing.
