Alice Ottazzi is a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Kunsthistorisches Institut in Florenz (KHI), part of the Max Planck Society. She holds a doctorate in art history from the University of Turin and the University of Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne.
Her educational background includes a doctorate from two prestigious institutions, and she has held postdoctoral fellowships at I Tatti - The Harvard University Center for the Italian Renaissance Studies (2024), University of Paris-Nanterre (2022-2024), and has been an affiliated scholar with the Lise Meitner Group at the Bibliotheca Hertziana in Rome and a fellow at the Zentralinstitute für Kunstgeschichte in Munich.
Dr. Ottazzi's research focuses on the history of drawing and printmaking (14th-19th centuries), with particular emphasis on British and French art of the 17th-18th centuries. Her work explores the relationship between material and theoretical dimensions, material culture, materiality, intermediality, and the circulation of works of art and ideas through artistic networks. She has made significant contributions to understanding how artistic practices and theories traveled across cultural boundaries.
She has been recognized with the Wolfgang-Ratjen-Preis (2020) for her scholarly work. Her book "Trésors d'une île. La ricevimento della scuola inglese a Parigi nel XVIII secolo" was published in 2024 by Polistampa with support from the Tavolozza Foundation.
