His research focuses on political exclusion and cultural legacy in fifteenth-century Florence, particularly the impact of exiled patrons on Renaissance art. His work emphasizes archival research and interdisciplinary collaboration.
Gaffo has contributed to major museum projects, including exhibitions at the Louvre's Department of Sculpture (A Dream of Italy, 2018; Body and Soul, 2017–2019), and currently supports provenance research for the Mission de recherche et de restitution des biens culturels spoliés entre 1933 et 1945 (M2RS) in Paris.
