Alia Kuhnert is an Assistant Professor of Practice in Trumpet at the University of the Pacific's Stockton campus. A versatile trumpet player from San Francisco, she performs with major Northern California orchestras (Berkeley Symphony, Oakland Symphony, Marin Symphony) and has toured Central Europe with UC Berkeley. Her educational background includes a DMA, MM, and BM from Stony Brook University and New England Conservatory respectively.
As an educator, Kuhnert teaches at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music Pre-College Division, East Bay Center for Performing Arts, Schools of the Sacred Heart, and Cazadero Music Camp. She co-founded eGALitarian, an all-female brass ensemble promoting women's empowerment through music, and maintains a student-centered teaching philosophy emphasizing inclusivity.
Kuhnert's career spans orchestral performance, solo engagements, and substitute teaching at Juilliard Pre-College. Her research interests appear focused on brass pedagogy, gender dynamics in music, and community engagement through performance. She also performs karate nationally with the International Karate League.
