Dr. Alexandra Lindgren-Gibson is an Associate Professor of History at the University of Mississippi's Department of History, housed within the College of Liberal Arts. She specializes in modern British and imperial history, with a focus on family, class, gender, and sexuality. Her research examines global working-class experiences and the intersection of race and social hierarchy under colonialism.
Education: PhD in History (Northwestern University, 2016); MA in Public History (Arizona State University).
Research interests include colonial India's social dynamics, public history initiatives, and the archival traces of historical friendships. Current projects include a book on working-class migrants in colonial India (under contract with Cambridge University Press) and a study of friendship histories supported by the Isom Center.
Teaching spans European history, gender studies, and public history, with student projects on local heritage trails, Oxford's Nielsen’s Department Store history, and post-integration Black student experiences at UM. Courses include 'History on Location' and 'Gender History of Modern Europe.'
