Maya C. Gibson

Maya C. Gibson is an Assistant Teaching Professor at the University of Missouri's Honors College and Women's and Gender Studies department in the College of Arts and Science. Her teaching and research interweave music and narrative studies, focusing on intersections of gender, race, class, and sexuality within genres like blues, rock, jazz, and classical music. She designs interdisciplinary courses such as Reading Toni Morrison, Black Women in Music, and Diagnosing the Dark, emphasizing education's role in fostering societal engagement.
