Farida Begum is an Assistant Professor of History at the University of Wyoming. Her research focuses on modern South Asia, gender, and empire, with a particular emphasis on Bengal. She holds a PhD in History from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, and undergraduate degrees in History and Asian and Middle Eastern Cultures from Barnard College, Columbia University.

Her current book manuscript investigates Hindu-Muslim women's friendships in 20th-century Bengal, analyzing continuity and change across colonial and postcolonial eras.
