About
Alexander Adams is a Tutor in the Department of Biological and Environmental Sciences at the University of Stirling. His research focuses on freshwater ecosystems and terrestrial habitats, with a particular emphasis on the ecological impacts of reintroduced large herbivores like beavers, and the application of ecoacoustics for biodiversity assessment. He is currently investigating how beaver habitat engineering alters freshwater ecosystems, using audio recordings to analyze communities of birds, bats, and aquatic invertebrates.
Adams holds an MSci in Zoology from the University of Sussex (2017–2022), where his thesis examined the soundscape dynamics at the Wilder Blean bison reintroduction site in Kent. His research interests include trophic rewilding, species reintroduction strategies, and the integration of acoustic tools into ecological monitoring.
