Alexa Carlson

Alexa Carlson is an Clinical Associate Professor at the Department of Pharmacy Practice and Health Systems Science within the Bouvé College of Health Sciences at Northeastern University. She maintains a clinical practice in adult internal medicine at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center and is certified as a Pharmacotherapy Specialist (BCPS).

• Education: PharmD from Butler University, MEd in eLearning and Instructional Design from Northeastern University

Her research focuses on pharmacy education and interprofessional training, particularly in clinical settings. She has pioneered the use of electronic portfolio systems for student training and Web 2.0 technologies in advanced pharmacy practice experiences. Her work also explores medication adherence in ICU environments.

Recent publications highlight her contributions to interdisciplinary primary care models, adverse drug reaction monitoring, and digital education tools for pharmacy students. These align with her broader interests in health systems science and clinical pharmacotherapy.
