Alberto Gianfreda

Alberto Gianfreda is a Professor in the Sculpture Department at Accademia di Belle Arti di Bologna, teaching core courses including Sculpture Techniques I, Sculpture Techniques II, and Forming, Technology and Typology of Materials. His academic career spans institutions including Brera Academy of Fine Arts, Florence, and Carrara since 2005.

His research focuses on the intersection of material anthropology and contemporary sculpture, exploring technical processes as expressive experiences. Gianfreda investigates how materials' physical and symbolic characteristics transform through traditional and cutting-edge techniques, examining applications in diverse contexts from public installations to private spaces. His methodology emphasizes the threshold between technical execution and design conception.

Since 2018, Gianfreda has coordinated the experimental research project 'Reading the Territory with Art' in collaboration with MAC Lissone, developing methodologies for integrating art into urban planning processes.
