Dr. Ahmed Alrawi is a Lecturer at the Donald P. Bellisario College of Communications at Pennsylvania State University. He holds a Ph.D. in Mass Communication from the Bellisario College, alongside master's and bachelor's degrees in Media Studies and Telecommunications from the same institution. He also earned a bachelor’s degree in Computer Communication Engineering from Al-Mansour University, Baghdad, Iraq.
His research focuses on surveillance, privacy implications of ICTs, and broadband policy deployment in rural areas of the U.S. and MENA countries. Alrawi is actively involved in academic organizations such as AEJMC, ICA, TPRC, and PTC, presenting at conferences and publishing in journals like Journal of Information Policy and Journalism & Mass Communication Quarterly.
He teaches courses including Telecommunications Law, Digital Media Metrics, and News Writing. His work emphasizes policy-relevant research to address contemporary challenges in ICT adoption and regulation.
