Aaron Eldridge

Aaron Eldridge is a Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of Toronto's Department of Anthropology, affiliated with the Downtown Toronto (St. George) campus. His research explores intersections of religious practices, revolutionary movements, and postcolonial theorizations of capitalism in the Middle East, particularly Lebanon, Syria, and Palestine.

Eldridge's work focuses on collective responses to cultural destruction, social precarity, and ecological crises in the Middle East. He examines:

• Historical continuity of monasticism in postwar Lebanon
• Comparative analysis of Eastern Christian and Muslim land endowments
• Psychoanalytic frameworks in interfaith interactions

Recent publications emphasize theological languages of the unseen, sectarian interpellation, and communal strategies of resilience. His annotated translation of Aspīrū Jabbūr's work bridges Orthodox asceticism, Freudian psychoanalysis, and Sufi grammars.
