Associate Professor Şengül Balkaya is a faculty member at Muğla Sıtkı Koçman University's Faculty of Education, Department of German Language Education. She has established herself as a prominent researcher and educator in German language teaching and intercultural communication.
Her educational background includes a Bachelor's degree from Çanakkale Onsekiz Mart University in Foreign Language Education (2007-2011), a Master's degree from Muğla Sıtkı Koçman University in German Language Education (2015-2017), and a Doctorate from Anadolu University in German Language Teaching (2017-2022).
Dr. Balkaya's research focuses on intercultural communication in language teaching, language learning strategies, stereotypes in language education, and material design for German as a foreign language. Her work often examines Turkish students' attitudes toward German language learning and cultural perceptions.
Her publication record shows a strong trend toward intercultural approaches in language teaching, with particular emphasis on humor as a teaching tool, cultural elements in textbooks, and addressing language anxiety.
