Şafak Yılmaz

Şafak Yılmaz is a Professor at the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Istanbul Technical University. His research focuses on material science, mechanical simulation, and manufacturing processes. He has led 7 active and concluded research projects since 2011, with recent work on aluminum alloys, steel behavior, and lithium-ion battery components. Key projects include optimizing formability of 6061 Al alloys and investigating machining mechanics of metal materials.

Research interests span composite materials, finite element analysis, deformation behavior, heat treatment effects, and nanofiber applications. Notable contributions include studies on Gurson-Tvergaard-Needleman model parameters for AISI 1045 steel (2023), ion nitrided stainless steel characterization (2022), and lithium-ion battery separators (2021).

Recent articles analyze steel springback behavior (2020), stress-strain properties of aluminum alloys (2020), and nanofiber-based battery components.
