Dr. Čkrkić Jelisaveta is a senior research associate at the Faculty of Biology, University of Belgrade, specializing in the systematics, phylogeny, and biodiversity of parasitic wasps in the subfamily Aphidiinae (Hymenoptera, Braconidae). Her work integrates molecular methods to study parasitoid-host relationships and evolutionary patterns.
- Doctoral studies: University of Belgrade, Faculty of Biology (Entomology), 2019
- Undergraduate studies: Biology, University of Belgrade, Faculty of Biology, 2012
- High school: Mihajlo Pupin, Belgrade, 2003
- Elementary school: Seven Secretaries of SKOJ, Belgrade, 1999
Her research focuses on the taxonomy and phylogenetic relationships of Aphidiinae wasps, particularly in the subtribe Monoctonina, with significant contributions to understanding their biodiversity across Europe, Asia, and Africa. Recent work explores molecular systematics, host specificity, and the role of parasitoids in agricultural ecosystems.
Analysis of her 15 most recent publications reveals expertise in:
- Species discovery (e.g., new Monoctonus in South Korea, Pauesia in Serbia)
- Phylogenetic reconstruction
- Biocontrol implications
- Habitat-aphid-parasitoid dynamics
- Key development for Aphidiinae identification
- Biogeographic patterns across continents
She has held research positions since 2014, completed postdoctoral training at the Centre for Biodiversity Genomics (University of Guelph, Canada, 2023-2024), and was promoted to senior research associate in 2025. Her work involves collaboration across Europe and Asia, with field studies in diverse habitats including agricultural landscapes and wetlands.
