Özgür Erdur-Baker is a Professor in the Department of Educational Sciences at Middle East Technical University's Faculty of Education. With a PhD in Counseling Psychology from University of Texas at Austin (2002), she leads research on counseling processes, trauma response, and bullying dynamics. Her work examines cultural dimensions of psychological phenomena including gender-sensitive interventions and disaster psychology.

- Cyber and traditional bullying perpetration motives
- Grief processing across cultural contexts
- Refugee psychosocial adaptation
- Gender identity and discrimination
- Disaster response strategies
She actively mentors graduate researchers, supervising 39 theses covering ecological grief, disability in crises, poverty-sensitive counseling, and gender-based trauma. Her publications demonstrate consistent focus on vulnerable populations including refugees, LGBTQ+ communities, and disaster survivors.
Funded projects include climate education initiatives (CLIMES), trauma-sensitive school resilience models (TUBITAK), and psychosocial support for displaced populations. Administrative roles include Vice Dean of Faculty of Education and board membership at Egeden Trauma and Child Foundation.
