Ömer Özak is an Associate Professor of Economics at Southern Methodist University and Research Fellow at IZA. His research investigates the historical origins of contemporary economic development patterns through interdisciplinary approaches combining economics, anthropology, and evolutionary biology.
Research examines how biogeographical, cultural, and technological factors shape economic outcomes across societies. Key focus areas include:
