معرفی
Éric Goulet is a researcher at the Centre de recherche sur le vieillissement du CIUSSS de l’Estrie – CHUS, affiliated with Université de Sherbrooke's Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences and Department of Kinesiology. His work focuses on exercise physiology, hydration, aging, and human performance.
Education:
- Postdoctoral Fellowship in Physiology, McGill University (2009)
- PhD in Physiology, Université de Sherbrooke (2007)
- Master's in Kinesiology, Université de Sherbrooke (2001)
- Bachelor's in Physical Activity, Université de Sherbrooke (2000)
His research examines hydration strategies, protein metabolism, sarcopenia, and insulin sensitivity in aging populations. Key studies analyze hypohydration effects on endurance, hyperhydration techniques using glycerol/salt, and thermoregulation during exercise. His meta-analyses challenge conventional hydration guidelines, showing thirst-driven fluid intake may suffice for performance.
Recent publications (2015-2017) reveal trends in ultramarathon hydration assessment, sweat sodium analysis, and fluid retention mechanisms. His work bridges sports science with gerontology, particularly in aging athletes.
Grants & Advising:
- Principal investigator on 14+ grants (2010-2023) studying hydration, thermoregulation, and aging
- Mentored 11+ students (e.g., De La Flore, Savoie, Gosselin) across 30+ publications
- Developed telemetric rectal temperature measurement systems
Labs & Teams: Collaborates with CIUSSS de l’Estrie – CHUS aging research center, McGill University, and international sports physiology groups. Leads projects on fluid balance in ultra-endurance events and metabolic responses in elderly populations.
