Áine Ryall is a Professor of Law at the University College Cork (UCC), School of Law, and Co-Director of the Centre for Law & the Environment. She holds a PhD in European Union Environmental Law from the European University Institute and is a practising barrister. Her research focuses on environmental law, EU law, climate change, and access to justice in environmental matters. She has held prestigious fellowships at NYU and the European University Institute. Prof. Ryall chairs the UN ECE Aarhus Convention Compliance Committee and has served on multiple governmental review groups, including the EPA Advisory Committee and the Citizens’ Assembly on Climate Change. She has received awards for her teaching and research, including the Cork Environmental Forum Public Sector Award (2019) and UCC Advanced Researcher of the Year (2020).

Research Interests: Intersection of international, EU, and national environmental law; access to justice in environmental matters; climate litigation; human rights and environmental standards; Aarhus Convention compliance.
