Victor Yañez-Lazcano is an Assistant Professor in the Photo/Media + New Genres department at the University of Washington. His interdisciplinary work explores Mexican American identity through the lens of race, language, class, and labor, focusing on his family's transition from immigrants to multi-generational Americans. He holds an MFA from Stanford University (2018) and a BFA from Columbia College-Chicago (2008).
Yañez-Lazcano has taught as a visiting lecturer at Stanford University, San Francisco State University, and the Milwaukee Institute of Art and Design. His artwork has been exhibited at institutions like the Royal Nonesuch Gallery (Oakland), Natalie & James Thompson Art Gallery (San Jose), and the Chicago Design Museum. His published works are included in prestigious collections, including those at Yale, Indiana University, and Harvard. He recently completed an artist residency through the RAiR Foundation in Roswell, New Mexico.
