Dr Rachel King is a Lecturer in Nursing at the University of Sheffield's School of Allied Health Professions, Nursing and Midwifery. With a PhD, MMedSci, and BSc, she holds Fellow status with the Higher Education Academy (FHEA) and maintains an active clinical background as a former primary care advanced nurse practitioner. Her work examines workforce issues, knowledge mobilization in clinical decision-making, and the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on healthcare roles. She employs diverse qualitative methodologies including ethnography, interviews, and focus groups, with recent work funded by the Cancer Alliance and supported by a Florence Nightingale Foundation Scholarship. Her publication record demonstrates consistent scholarly output across nursing workforce issues, advanced practice roles, and clinical decision-making, with numerous publications spanning 2020-2025. Her research shows particular strength in examining nursing associate roles, advanced practitioner well-being, and knowledge mobilization in emergency settings.
