Prof. Günther Neher is a Professor of Web Technology and Semantic Web Applications at the Department of Information Science, Potsdam University of Applied Sciences (Fachhochschule Potsdam). He holds a permanent academic position since 2010 and previously served in a limited-term role under the Brandenburg overload program. His primary roles include Deputy Dean of the Department and membership in the Audit Committee. His research focuses on web-based systems, semantic technologies, and data management. Recent projects include semantic networking of research data and ontology merging in geosciences. Advising and Collaboration: Supervised over 30 theses on topics like semantic annotation, database archiving, and knowledge management wikis. Collaborated with organizations including Siemens AG, GeoForschungsZentrum Potsdam, and the Federal Institute for Risk Assessment (BfR-ZEBET). Labs/Teams: Engaged in cross-departmental projects with the GeoForschungsZentrum Potsdam, focusing on geoscientific data infrastructure and linked data applications.
