Siddhartha Bhattacharyya

Siddhartha Bhattacharyya is an Associate Professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at Florida Institute of Technology, part of the College of Engineering and Science. He serves as the Director of the ASSIST Research Lab, focused on assurance frameworks for critical systems using formal methods, model-based engineering, and AI. His expertise spans formal methods, machine learning engineering, explainable AI, and cybersecurity, with applications in autonomous systems, healthcare, and avionics.

Prior to joining Florida Tech, he held roles as a Sr. Research Engineer at Rockwell Collins, a tenured faculty member at Kentucky State University, and conducted research at institutions like Penn State and Oak Ridge National Laboratory. His work integrates theoretical rigor with industry collaboration, addressing challenges in safety, security, and system assurance.

Research interests include model-based systems engineering, formal verification, and AI for healthcare, with a focus on autonomous systems. His lab collaborates with NASA, DARPA, AFRL, and ONR, among others, and has secured grants for projects like NASA’s ADLAAVS initiative. Publications emphasize assurance frameworks, cybersecurity, and AI applications in complex systems.

Students advised include Ph.D. candidates Candice Chambers, Parth Ganeriwala, and Mohammad Hafeez Khan, among others. The ASSIST Lab has produced impactful work, including the ALINA algorithm and the Assisttaxi dataset.
