Michael R. Carey is an Associate Professor of Organizational Leadership at Gonzaga University's School of Leadership Studies, where he has served since 1987. He holds a Ph.D. and M.A. in Educational Leadership from Gonzaga University, along with a B.A. in English from Loyola Marymount University. With a research focus on servant-leadership, Ignatian spirituality, and leadership formation, he has published extensively on these topics while pioneering online education initiatives at Gonzaga. His publications span leadership theory, religious studies, and organizational behavior. Key themes include spiritual leadership frameworks, ethical decision-making in business, and integrating Ignatian pedagogy into online learning environments. He has presented at major academic conferences across disciplines like entrepreneurship, leadership education, and religious communication. Dr. Carey has held significant administrative roles: 7 years as Program Director, 4 years as Director of Distributive Learning, 5 years as Dean of the Virtual Campus, and leadership positions on multiple university committees. He co-founded the Council for Partnership in Mission and developed Gonzaga's online M.A. in Organizational Leadership program.
