Aswin Sankaranarayanan is a Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Carnegie Mellon University (CMU) , where he leads the Image Science Lab . His research focuses on computational photography , 3D shape estimation , and novel imaging system design . He earned his Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering (2009) from the University of Maryland and completed a postdoctoral fellowship at Rice University (2012) .
