Peter Achtziger is a Research Fellow in Geological Sciences at Stanford University, focusing on hydrogeology and mining uncertainty assessment. He holds a Diploma of Engineering in Hydrogeology (MSc equivalent) from TU Berlin (2010). His career includes roles as a research assistant and post-doctoral researcher at ETH Zurich (2012-2017), where his PhD research analyzed large hydraulic datasets to study hydrogeological parameters in crystalline rock. Since 2017, he has explored new methods to assess and visualize uncertainty in mining as part of the SCERF group. Research Interests: Hard rock hydrogeology Hydro-mechanical processes in geological formations Radioactive waste disposal research Uncertainty quantification in mining and subsurface engineering His professional experience spans hydraulic, hydro-mechanical, and tracer experiments in Switzerland, France, and Germany. He has collaborated on radioactive disposal projects and continues to investigate global-scale hydrogeological distribution patterns in the Earth's crust.
