Minna Pirhonen is a Lecturer at the Department of Agricultural Sciences , University of Helsinki. She supervises doctoral students in four programs: Sustainable Use of Renewable Natural Resources, Integrative Life Science, Microbiology and Biotechnology, and Plant Sciences. Docentship in Crop Production Sciences Active Principal Investigator in plant-microbe interaction research ORCID: 0000-0001-5249-563X Her research focuses on plant pathology and bacterial genetics , particularly in potato disease systems. Key areas include microbial biocontrol , genomic characterization of phytopathogens, and transcriptomic analysis of plant-pathogen interactions. Recent work explores phytohormone dynamics during infection phases and taxonomic reclassification of economically significant bacteria. Current projects (2023-2026) address potato disease epidemiology and risk mitigation strategies. She actively participates in international collaborations and has presented at major conferences like Potato Expo and Euphresco Pectobacterium/Dickeya meetings . Her 74 peer-reviewed publications demonstrate sustained contributions to agricultural microbiology since 1986. Research outputs include genomic resources (2022), transcriptomic studies (2024), and taxonomic revisions (2024). She also engages in seed potato farmer training and public science communication .
