Jennifer Wingard is an Associate Professor in the Department of English at the University of Houston’s College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences, specializing in Rhetoric, Composition, and Pedagogy. She is a faculty affiliate of the Women’s Studies Program and has contributed to curriculum design, including the Ph.D. concentration in Rhetoric, Composition, and Pedagogy. Education: PhD in Composition and Cultural Rhetoric from Syracuse University MA and BA in English from California State University, Sacramento Her research focuses on 20th Century Rhetorical Theory , Transnational Feminist Theory , and Neoliberalism , analyzing how global neoliberal economics shape civic and democratic discourses, particularly in relation to gendered bodies and marginalized communities. Her publications include the monograph Branded Bodies, Rhetoric, and the Neoliberal Nation-State (2013) and co-edited volumes on neoliberalism and rhetoric. She is currently working on a second monograph, Texas We Have a Problem , examining legislative assaults on gendered bodies in Texas. Wingard’s scholarship appears in journals like Reflections , JAC , and Rhetoric Society Quarterly , with a focus on neoliberal urbanism , political branding , and transnational feminist frameworks . She has been cited as an expert in media outlets such as NPR , The New York Times , and The Washington Post .
