Jeremy Millar is a Professor at the Royal College of Art (RCA), where he serves as Head of the MA Writing program (previously MA Critical Writing in Art and Design) and Pathway Leader for Critical Practice in the MA Contemporary Art Practice program. He is an active member of the RCA's Learning and Teaching Committee, the Taught Student Ethics Committee, and the School of Arts and Humanities' Research Development and Learning and Teaching Development Groups. Millar's research approach centers on gathering people, artworks, objects, and events to explore overlooked historical aspects and how they might be reinterpreted. His work spans diverse topics including John Cage, representation of death, Roni Horn, speed as a cultural phenomenon, and Aby Warburg, reflecting his broad interest in art history, cultural theory, and contemporary artistic practices. He is particularly interested in the role of writing within contemporary artistic practices and within art schools. His recent publications examine contemporary art exhibitions and artists with a consistent engagement across conceptual art, visual culture, and the intersections between art, history, and philosophy. The articles demonstrate his critical approach to analyzing artistic practices and theoretical frameworks. Shortlisted — Artangel Open, 2014 Associate Artist, Kettle's Yard, Cambridge, 2012–2013 AHRC Post-Doctoral Research Fellowship in the Creative and Performing Arts, University of Oxford, 2007–10 Nesta Fellowship, 2004–07 Winner — Arts Foundation Curating Fellowship, 2004 Millar has successfully supervised PhD students to completion, including Travis Jeppeson, and currently advises Federico Clavarino, Inga Fraser, Nicholas Middleton, and Lika Tarkhan-Mouravi.
