Elise Solbu Roalsø serves as a Research Fellow at the Department of Nursing and Health Promotion within the Faculty of Health Sciences at Oslo Metropolitan University. Based at Pilestredet 32 in Oslo, she functions as Study Leader for Research Area 8 and actively contributes to the Mental Health Research Group, with primary contact via elise.solbu.roalso@oslomet.no and mobile +47 932 18 125. Her research concentrates on adolescent mental health intersections with pharmacological practices, specifically examining pain management and over-the-counter analgesic usage patterns in youth populations. Methodologically, she employs cognitive assessment tools like dot-probe tasks and advanced statistical approaches including network analysis to investigate relationships between self-medication behaviors and psychological symptoms such as attentional biases, anxiety, and depression. Recent publications (2024-2025) reveal a cohesive research trajectory analyzing how analgesic consumption correlates with neuropsychological markers in adolescents and young women. Her work bridges pharmacology, cognitive psychology, and public health through interdisciplinary collaborations with researchers like Sandra Klonteig and Rune Jonassen across Scandinavian institutions. As Study Leader for Research Area 8, Roalsø directs the active "Pain, youth and self-medication (SUS)" project which systematically explores adolescent pain experiences and medication behaviors. Her position within the Mental Health Research Group facilitates cross-departmental initiatives focused on improving youth health outcomes through evidence-based interventions targeting self-medication practices.
