Dr. Wojciech Witkowski serves as an Assistant Professor in the Department of English and Comparative Linguistics at the University of Wrocław, where he has built his academic career since completing advanced degrees at the same institution. His educational credentials include: MA in Linguistics (2009), University of Wrocław, thesis: 'The Verbal Character of Old English Periphrasis 'bēon + present participle' in Prose Texts of Non-Latin Origin. A Minimalist Approach' PhD in Linguistics with distinction (2015), University of Wrocław, dissertation: 'Phase Syntax Account of OV and VO Variation in the History of English. A Feature Composition Based Model with Reference to Properties of Phases' Witkowski's research bridges theoretical and computational linguistics, with dual specializations in historical syntax (particularly Old English and Polish) and lexical resource development. His work examines syntactic change through Minimalist frameworks while simultaneously advancing cross-lingual lexical databases like WordNet. This unique interdisciplinary approach connects deep historical analysis with cutting-edge computational methodologies. Publication analysis reveals a strategic evolution: early work (2010-2016) established foundations in Old English syntax and progressive constructions, while later research (2015-2017) pivoted toward computational lexicography, focusing on plWordNet-Princeton WordNet integration.
