Alexander Grötsch is a Tenure Track Assistant Professor at KTH Royal Institute of Technology, specializing in bio-based nanostructured materials and solid mechanics. He holds affiliations with the Wallenberg Wood Science Center (WWSC) and the Treesearch consortium, focusing on sustainable materials research. His work integrates experimental and computational approaches, leveraging synchrotron facilities like MAX IV and ESRF for in situ micromechanical testing. Education: Physics (University of Cologne), Quantum Nanoscience (Forschungszentrum Jülich), PhD in Mechanical & Biomedical Engineering (Heriot-Watt University). Research areas include architected metamaterials, functional materials, and bio-inspired designs. He co-leads PhD projects on multiscale modeling and materials for nuclear power plants.
