His research is supported by multiple active projects including "Digital Sovereigns and the Non-Sovereign Internet" (2025-2027), "Negotiating State Sovereignty over the Internet" (2024-2027), and the "House of Sustainable Transitions" initiative (2024-2028). Shahin leads the Digital Governance cluster at UNU-CRIS and chairs the Global Internet Governance Academic Network (GigaNet) from 2025-2027. His work connects academic research with practical policy development through regular participation in conferences, workshops, and public lectures on digital sovereignty and EU governance.
