Dr. Nadine Ansorg is a Reader in International Conflict Analysis at the University of Kent and a Research Fellow at the GIGA German Institute of Global and Area Studies in Hamburg. Her research focuses on institutional reform, security sector reform, and peacebuilding in post-conflict societies, particularly in sub-Saharan Africa. She employs mixed-methods approaches to analyze dynamics of peace consolidation and the role of international actors in conflict zones. Ansorg co-directed a German Research Foundation-funded project (2016-2019) on 'Security Sector Reform and the Stability of Post-War Peace' with Prof. Sabine Kurtenbach. Her work engages civil society organizations and international donors to bridge policy and academic insights. Her research interests include post-conflict political order beyond nation-state frameworks, amnesty laws in transitional justice, and gender dimensions of security sector reform. Ansorg has held roles including Acting Junior Professor at Bayreuth University and Project Coordinator at GIGA’s 'Institutions for Sustainable Peace' initiative. She collaborates globally, contributing to policy dialogues and interdisciplinary studies on conflict prevention and UN peacekeeping effectiveness. Ansorg’s publications span peer-reviewed journals, edited volumes, and policy briefs, emphasizing empirical rigor and real-world application. Recent work addresses police reform datasets, regional conflict systems, and the implications of Brexit for EU-Africa relations. Her research underscores the need for inclusive, locally grounded approaches to security and peacebuilding in fragile contexts.
