Dr. Ruoxu Wang is an Associate Professor in the Department of Journalism and Strategic Media at the University of Memphis, affiliated with the College of Communication and Fine Arts. She joined the institution in 2017 after earning her Ph.D. from Penn State University and degrees from North Dakota State University. Her research bridges media effects, persuasion, and communication technology within strategic communication contexts, with publications in top journals like Computers in Human Behavior and Mass Communication and Society . Supported by grants such as the Communities of Research Scholars and CCFA Seed Grant, her work emphasizes digital media's societal impact. Education: Ph.D. in Mass Communications, Penn State University M.S. in Mass Communications, North Dakota State University B.A. in Journalism, Broadcasting, & Mass Communication Technologies, North Dakota State University Research Interests: Dr. Wang explores how communication technology shapes media effects and persuasive outcomes. Her focus areas include health communication, digital advertising strategies, user experience in interactive media, and pandemic-era behavioral adaptations. She employs mixed-methods approaches to analyze issues like social media engagement, gaming psychology, and organizational communication in crises.
