Juan Carlos Torrado Vidal is an Associate Professor at the Department of Computer Science and Communication, Oslo and Akershus University College of Applied Sciences. His research focuses on Interaction Design, particularly using technology to enhance accessibility and inclusion for vulnerable populations. He has held roles including Postdoctoral Researcher (University of Bergen), ERCIM Fellow (NTNU), and Teaching Assistant (Universidad Autónoma de Madrid). His academic interests include Human-Computer Interaction, Assistive Technologies, and Mobile/Wearable Technologies. He actively contributes to courses like Interaction Design and collaborates on projects such as the ActiveAgeing study exploring wearable data in healthcare. Publications span topics from elderly community living to Parkinson’s disease monitoring via wearables, emphasizing interdisciplinary research. Collaborations include work on apps like HikePal and Alight, designed to support individuals with disabilities through inclusive technology.
