Robert J. Schoelkopf is the Sterling Professor of Applied Physics at Yale School of Engineering & Applied Science, with a secondary appointment in the Department of Physics (Faculty of Arts and Sciences). He co-founded the field of circuit quantum electrodynamics (circuit QED), pioneering breakthroughs in solid-state quantum computing, including the transmon qubit, quantum bus, and first demonstrations of quantum algorithms and error correction. He directs the Yale Quantum Institute.
