Saskia Ketz serves as Research Associate at Saar College of Fine Arts (HBKsaar) teaching design history and theory, with concurrent lecturer positions at Schwäbisch-Gmünd University of Art and Design and Aachen University of Applied Sciences. Her academic foundation includes a Dipl.-Des. in communication design (Dortmund University of Applied Sciences) and MA in art and design studies (Folkwang University of the Arts), culminating in a 2024 summa cum laude doctorate from Folkwang's Department of Design. Ketz's research pioneers intersections of death studies and visual culture, examining photography's role in remembrance practices through feminist-intersectional lenses. Her work critically analyzes sepulchral representation, visual memory systems, and decolonial approaches to design history, with particular focus on marginalized communities' experiences. Her 2024 monograph 'Serial Remembering' established her conceptual framework for analyzing photographic series as collective memory devices, generating significant discourse in death photography scholarship. Scientific recognition: Doctorate summa cum laude from Folkwang University of the Arts As co-founder of Un/Learning Art and Design Education, Ketz drives institutional change through advocacy for intersectional-feminist pedagogy, developing curricular models that integrate critical race theory and decolonial practices across art and design education.
