Dr. Jamie Beddow is a Lecturer in Biomedical Sciences at Coventry University's CEES School of Science, within the Faculty of Health and Life Sciences. He holds a Doctorate in Biological Sciences from Coventry University (2004) and a BSc in Biological Sciences from the University of Warwick (1993). His research focuses on antimicrobial agents, nanoparticle applications, and environmental pollution solutions, with notable contributions to sonochemical textile treatments and malaria diagnostics. Education: PhD in Biological Sciences, Coventry University (1999–2004) BSc in Biological Sciences, University of Warwick (1990–1993) Research Interests: Beddow’s work spans antimicrobial fabric development (using nanoparticles like ZnO and CuO), sustainable materials engineering, and environmental health. He has pioneered sonochemical methods for durable antibacterial coatings and contributed to EU-funded projects on malaria diagnostics and permeable pavement pollution retention. His vision addresses global health challenges through innovative biomedical and environmental applications. Grants & Projects: EU FP6 Project: Novel diagnostic systems for malaria (international collaboration) EU FP7 Project: Sonochemical antimicrobial fabric production Tarmac Ltd.: Pollutant retention in permeable pavements Labs & Teams: Beddow collaborates on multidisciplinary teams, including biomedical engineering and environmental chemistry groups. His work aligns with UN Sustainable Development Goals related to health and sustainable cities.
