Prof. Dr. Güliz Bayramoğlu is a faculty member at Istanbul Technical University , specifically in the Department of Civil Engineering under the College of Engineering . She holds a PhD in Structural Engineering from the same university. PhD: Structural Engineering, Istanbul Technical University (1986) MSc: Structural Engineering (with thesis), Istanbul Technical University (1982) BSc: Civil Engineering, Istanbul Technical University (1978) Her research focuses on seismic assessment , reliability analysis of steel structures , and behavior of composite bridges . Key areas include web openings in steel beams , semi-rigid joints , and non-uniform torsion in tall buildings . She has published extensively on seismic retrofitting using viscous fluid dampers and progressive collapse analysis . Her publication trends highlight reliability-based structural design (2001–2014) and seismic performance evaluation (2012–2014). She has contributed to standards for curved composite bridges and steel frame analysis . As a long-time member of the Turkish Structural Steel Association (since 1985) and TMMOB Chamber of Civil Engineers (since 2014), she has significantly impacted structural engineering practices in Turkey. She has supervised 17 theses in progress and contributed to educational materials like Steel Structures I Lecture Notes (2003) and Steel Structures, Lecture Notes (2002).
