Elizabeth Czach is an Associate Professor in the Department of English & Film Studies at the University of Alberta's Faculty of Arts. She previously served as a programmer for the Toronto International Film Festival (1995-2005) and as president of the Film Studies Association of Canada. Her research focuses on film festivals, Canadian cinema, and amateur films/home movies, with a particular emphasis on women's contributions to travel lecture filmmaking. Current projects include a monograph on Quebec auteur Lea Pool's *Emporte Moi* and an archive-driven study on women travel filmmakers titled *Your Ticket to Adventure*. She co-edits the *Canadian Journal of Film Studies* and has published widely in film historiography and cultural studies. Teaching responsibilities span undergraduate and graduate levels, including courses on film analysis, Quebec cinema, animation, and feminist television studies. Recent courses include FS 201 (Film History I), ENGL 578 (Film Studies), and FS 407 (Topics in Film History). Her pedagogical approach emphasizes historical contextualization and critical engagement with cinematic forms. Research highlights include co-editing *Cinema of Pain: On Quebec's Nostalgic Screen* (2020) and a special issue on 16mm film in Canada (2022). Her work interrogates intersections between amateur film practices, national identity, and archival methodologies. Ongoing investigations explore the materiality of home movie soundtracks and the cultural labor of film festival curation. Czach's publications address diverse topics from Quebec heritage film to the transnational career of actress Geneviève Bujold. Her scholarship consistently bridges historical analysis with contemporary debates in media studies, emphasizing underrepresented voices in film history.
