Allison Monroe is a Lecturer in Music at Hampshire College and Director of the Five College Early Music Program. A specialist in historical performance, she plays Renaissance, Baroque, and Classical violin/viola, viols, rebec, and medieval harp, and performs with ensembles like Newberry Consort and Apollo’s Fire.

Her research focuses on medieval song accompaniment, self-accompaniment, the lira da braccio, and 17th-century English violin bands. She co-founded Trobár, a medieval music trio, and directed the Collegium Museum (2018–2023). Courses include exploration of medieval Nordic Yule traditions and music in Shakespeare’s England.
