Associate Professor Jürgen Aosaar (b. 1983) is a leading silviculture and forest-ecology researcher at the Estonian University of Life Sciences , Institute of Forestry and Engineering, Chair of Silviculture and Forest Ecology. After completing BSc, MSc and PhD degrees in forestry at the same university (2005–2012), he advanced from research engineer (2007) to senior research fellow (2018–2024) and since May 2024 holds the rank of Associate Professor. Research focus centres on biomass production of fast-growing broadleaved species, carbon and nitrogen dynamics, and climate-smart forest management . He has authored or co-authored ≈95 peer-reviewed articles and led or co-led over 30 national and international projects (>€5 million total funding), including Horizon Europe and Estonian Research Council grants.
